Girls and Boys basketball teams win first game of the season

The Madison Academy Girls varsity basketball team defeated Franklin Road Christian School 49-28 and the Boys varsity basketball team won 56-44.  Morgan Currie lead the girls team in scoring with 13 points and Nathan Johnson-14, Joshua Mixon-13 and Tyrell Gentle-11 all scored in the double digits in their game.  Each team is now 1-0.  The next game is at home playing against Pleasant View Christian on Tuesday, November 17.  The girls game starts at 6pm and the boys at 7pm.

Madison Academy participates in Jamboree Invitational

Both the girls and the boys basketball teams traveled to Collegedale, Tennessee and participated in the 2015 Jamboree Invitational.  Each of our teams played four games.  The girls team finished 2-2 and played in the championship round losing to Collegedale Academy varsity by 3 points.  The girls started this competition strong but lost to CA varsity by 3 points.  The Lady Knights came back to defeat the Collegedale Academy jv team and the Georgia Cumberland varsity team.  The boys concluded the tournament with a  1-3 record defeating the Collegedale Academy jv team but losing to CA varsity, GCA and Mount Pisgah Academy.

Girls Basketball pre-season starts

The Varsity Girls basketball team played their first games of the year yesterday at Dayspring Academy by taking part in a preseason Tennessee Christian Athletic Association(TNCAA) tournament. This is the first year that the Knights competed in TNCAA.  They played a total of three games winning all of them to become the champions of the tournament.

Johnson qualifies for regional swim meet

At the swim meet at the Gallatin Center, Nathan Johnson finished 2nd in the 100 breaststroke.  He also competed in the 50 freestyle.  He has qualified for regional competitions later this year.

Choir works to raise funds for trip to Italy

The biannual choir trip is planned for Italy this year.  To help raise funds for the trip moms have organized bake sales on Fridays after school, recently prepared and managed a yard sale at the Larkin Springs Medical Center. and on Thursday, November 12th, from 4-8pm partnered with Panera Bread to earn up to 20% of of net sales from redeemed flyers. Here is the flyerAlso on the same evening and for the same cause the MA moms have partnered with Baskin Robbins.

Baskin Robbins will donate 15% of all sales that they make after 4:00 on the 12th. No flyers required. We are encouraged to have kids outside bringing any and everyone in that they see. Baskin Robbins will be decorating their store in MA colors and will have a table for us to use to display information about MA to our community. Mrs. Fuentes, principal and MA staff will take turns serving ice cream behind the counter.

NACA Tournament ends today

The National Association of Christian Athletes tournament concludes today.  The varsity girls volleyball team was seeded 9th and won their first match against Heritage, TN., however #2 seeded Real Life handed the Lady Knights their first loss in the next round.  Still alive in the double elimination tournament the Knights faced Chattanooga A.  Madison lost both games, so the team finished its season.  Looking back the team has much to be thankful for–the first ever winning season at 13-5.

The Madison Academy soccer team defeated Real Life 2-1 and advanced to the next round.  Their opponent is Spring Valley Academy (SVA) and they are seeded at #7.  Madison Academy was defeated by SVA 2-0 and by Grace 7-1.  Hearing through the grapevine that our kids are enjoying the experience, especially the worships.

Teams placed in Division 3 at NACA

The National Association of Christian Athletes tournament begins today.  After pool play yesterday both the volleyball team and the soccer team were placed in Division 3.  The volleyball team is seeded 9th out of 10 teams and the soccer team is seeded 3rd out of 9 teams in their respective sports. Bell places 1st for final Cross Country meet at Dayspring Academy

In the final cross country event of the season held on Thursday, October 29 at Dayspring Academy, Marlana Bell placed 1st overall in the girls division with a time of 24:04.  There were three boys from our team who ran as well. Jack Wheeler finished 1st for our team with a time of 00:22:32:759.  Jordan P Brown followed with a time of 00:26:03:876 and Zach Levinskas finished 3rd on the team with a time of 00:30:08:44.

Volleyball and soccer teams participate in NACA tournament

The varsity girls volleyball team and the co-ed soccer team traveled to Dayton, Tennessee to participate in the National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) annual tournament.  This years volleyball team enters with a 13-5 record, the first winning record since the program began.  The soccer team plays most if its games in the spring however in order to prepare for this tournament the  soccer team arranged a few games but came away win less.
